Toshiba’s new REGZA AT700 is the world’s thinnest and lightest tablet (10.1-inch).

This ultra-thin device is 7.7mm thin and weighs only 558g, yet sports a 10.1-inch display and packs an extensive range of essential ports and interfaces. The REGZA AT700 is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor  from Texas Instruments – TI OMAP 4430. In addition, 32GB storage, 1GB RAM, two cameras (2MP, 5MP), micro USB connector, a card reader and a micro HDMI port for connecting the tablet to an external monitor or a TV.

Toshiba’s REGZA AT3S0 (the second announced tablet) has a compact and portable design, weighing just 379g. Its 7-inch LCD with wide viewing angle, is powered by 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1GB memory and 32GB of storage. The tablet has a mini USB port, micro HDMI and a micro SD card reader.

Both REGZA tablets are loaded with the latest Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) and support Adobe Flash and REGZA Link share.

Toshiba’s new service – REGZA Link Share makes it easier to connect your digital TVs, Blu-ray recorders, tablets, PCs and smartphones. Its key functions are – streaming live programs, recorded programs and downloading recorded programs from a Blu-ray recorder or digital TV to a tablet, PC or a smartphone.

Toshiba REGZA AT700 will be available in Japan, in mid-December 2011, while REGZA AT3S0 will be available in late October this year, with a price of ¥49,800 Yen ($650 USD).

The REGZA AT700 tablet was also announced today at CEATEC 2011 in JAPAN. Between the major exhibits were Toshiba’s REGZA Blu-ray DBR-M190 (High-capacity Blu-ray recorder), which also will be available in mid-December 2011 in Japan,  and  Toshiba’s new Ultrabook – dynabook R631 – planned for early October this year.

The Toshiba REGZA AT700 has some likenesses with Toshiba AT200 (which was unveiled by Toshiba a month ago), while the Toshiba REGZA AT3S0 has likenesses with Toshiba’s Thrive 7 tablet (last week’s US announcement by Toshiba).
