Lenovo unveils its ThinkPad X1 Hybrid dual-CPU Dual-OS notebook

Lenovo unveiled its new ThinkPad X1 Hybrid – dual-CPU Dual-OS business notebook.

 

 

Today, Lenovo announced its ThinkPad X1 Hybrid business notebook (with up to 10 hours of battery life with integrated 4-cell and external slice 6-cell battery).

The ThinkPad X1 Hybrid notebook has a 13.3-inch high definition display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The Hybrid is powered by two processors and comes with a dual operating system. When in Windows 7, the notebook uses latest Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, 160GB SSD or 320GB (5400rpm) hard drive. And when you switch to IMM (Instant Media Mode) the notebook starts using a dual core Qualcomm processor, 16 GB of additional storage and a custom Linux-based OS.

This power saving mode (IMM) allows users to watch videos, view photos, listen to music and browse the web. The notebook also includes Lenovo’s Rapid Charge technology, which charges the battery up to 80 percent in approximatly 30 minutes.

The ThinkPad X1 Hybrid is a business-class notebook, with features like optional mobile broadband, a high definition camera and microphones, security (Intel vPro), encrypted hard drives with remote management support and a fingerprint reader. It also features Dolby Home Theater v4, HDMI port and Intel Wireless Display technology (WiDi).

The ThinkPad X1 Hybrid notebook will be available in June 2012, with prices for models starts at approx. $1599 USD (most likely for a model with Intel Core i3 CPU and 320GB HDD).
