MSI Megabook VR600X Overheating

Author: An MSI Megabook VR600X (MS-1613) was brought in Laptoport workshop. The laptop was shutting down after some time. Base plastics around the power button, were getting hot. We were going to check it out.
MS-1613 variations of MSI VR600 series are a lot. Mostly differ in CPU speed (Celeron M or Intel Core Duo), HDD capacity and ram. The one we have here is VR600X-057EU. It comes with a Celeron M 1.73GHz 430, upgraded to 1GB of DDR2 memory. Bought without a system and later – XP professional was installed.
In case of overheating, there is a simple way to test every laptop without opening it. All you need is a lighter. Just place it in front the air vent and from its flame a user can get an idea – does the machine needs cleaning.
