While ago, a user came to Laptoport workshop, with a screen upgrade question. Laptop screen lid was forced backwards. Result – faulty LCD and internal breakage. He read in the internet, that his notebook can power a 15.4 inch display. But was there enough space to place it? We were going to find out.

Toshiba Satellite L30-115 (PSL30E-00200KG3) comes with 1.6 Intel Celeron M CPU 380A. By default 256 DDR2 memory (upgradable up to 2GB) and 40GB hard disk. The 14.1inch WXGA TFT display is powered by an ATI card.

Toshiba states other four compatible models from the L30 series.

• L30-113 (PSL33E-03902CG3) with 15.4 TFT, resolution: 1280 x 800
• L30-114 (PSL30E-00100KG3) with 14.1 TFT, resolution: 1280 x 800
• L30-134 (PSL33E-00E013G3) with 15.4 TFT, resolution: 1280 x 800
• L30-142 (PSL33E-00H013G3) with 15.4 TFT, resolution: 1280 x 800

Differing in Celeron processor speed, ram size and screen size. A Windows Home Edition runs on all. Except the L30-113 which is with Vista Home Basic.

We connected the laptop to an external monitor, ATI card was fine. After the bezel came off, it was clear there is plenty of room.
