Sony releases two 6-inch ebook readers-Sony Reader PRS-G1 and PRS-T1 in Japan

Today, Sony released two 6-inch ebook readers – Sony Reader PRS-G1 with 3G+WiFi and Sony Reader PRS-T1 with WiFi only, in Japan.

Both Readers come with 6-inch (600 × 800) 16-level grayscale electronic paper displays (E-ink), which can be read even under bright and direct sunlight since they are reflective and use no backlighting. Both have 2GB storage capacity (from which 1.4GB is available for saving eBooks and can be expanded up to 32GB via the built-in card reader.

Sony introduces World Lightest 6-inch PRS-T1 Reader Wi-Fi eReader

Today, Sony introduced World’s Lightest 6-inch PRS-T1 Reader Wi-Fi eReader, that also features an enhanced touchscreen.

The PRS-T1 eReader comes in red, white and black, it is just 168 grams and 8.9mm thin. It has a 6-inch advanced, high-contrast touchscreen and its battery life can hold up over a month (depending on use). 

The new Reader Wi-Fi PRS-T1 (from Sony) gives you the extra freedom to buy, borrow or get eBooks for free wherever there’s a wireless connection available.

From the latest releases to popular titles and classics, it’s easy to browse and download titles in seconds from a huge range of compatible bookstores and other web sites. You will also be able to buy and download eBooks and periodicals via Wi-Fi from the rapidly expanding catalog available at the Reader Store and even borrow eBooks wirelessly from public libraries thanks to simple, seamless access on the device via an on-screen ‘Public Library’ icon.

IRIVER Story HD is the first e-reader integrated with the open Google eBooks platform

Yesterday, Google announced through its official blog, that IRIVER Story HD is the first e-reader integrated with the open Google eBooks platform. 

IRIVER Story HD is slim and lightweight with a high-resolution e-ink screen and a QWERTY keyboard for easy searching. It includes over-the-air access to hundreds of thousands of Google eBooks for sale and more than 3 million for free. With the Story HD you can now browse, buy and read Google eBooks with your e-reader through Wi-Fi. Rather than downloading and transferring them from computer to e-reader with a cord as you can already do with more than 80 compatible devices.
