Recently, we had a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ31ER notebook with a problematic onboard Nvidia GeForce 8400M GT graphics card. The machine was not switching on, so we had to open it and send the motherboard for reballing the video chip (or replacing it with a new one).

Windows 8 gets the BSOD 0xc0000034 error message – and that’s how it looks.

It seems that also in Windows 8 we will have to deal with the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) 0xc0000034 error message (explained in details by Microsoft). Above is a screenshot of the generated error, followed by the Windows Recovery Environment troubleshooter with refresh/ reset options (below).

A Lenovo ThinkPad T61 notebook was brought at Laptoport, with a “fan error” problem.

When this Lenovo ThinkPad T61 notebook is switched on, it beeps two times, after displays a “fan error” (faulty fan), then beeps again and shuts down. We’ve already opened that notebook and cleaned its non-spinning fan, but that did not fix the error (photos of our first opening and clean-up are published in – Part 1). So, we’ve ordered a compatible replacement part (MCF-216PAM05, 42W2463, 42W2462/ MCF-217PAM05, 42W2461, 42W2460).

Today we are going to show you a machine, which was brought to us (at Laptoport) with a fan problem.

This Lenovo ThinkPad T61 notebook model comes with a 14.1-inch display, equipped with a 2.20GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (4M Cache, 800 MHz FSB) Centrino (Merom) processor, 2 x 1GB DDR2 667MHz (PC-5300) memory and a 160GB (5400rpm) hard drive.

Pioneer announced availability of its 17-inch DreamBook Power W17 (Intel) for the Australian market.

The DreamBook Power W17 notebook comes with Intel i7, i5, i3 CPU, an HDD, Blu-ray Combo drive and up to 8GB (1066/1333MHz) DDR3 memory. Its 17-inch HD+ (1600×900) Crystal Bright Screen (with optional 17-inch Full-HD (1920×1080) is powered by Nvidia GeForce GT 555M (Optimus) with 2GB GDDR3 Video RAM (540M, 1G Optional).
In addition, the machines has THX TruStudio Pro audio, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, 9-in-1 Card Reader and is loaded with Windows 7 32-bit/64-bit. The laptop weighs around 3.1kg.

Pioneer announced availability of its DreamBook Power W27 (Intel) and DreamBook Power W27-0B (AMD), 17.3-inch laptops for the Australian market.

DreamBook Power W27 notebook is powered by Intel i7, i5, i3 CPU, a USB 3.0 port and Intel HD Graphics 3000. While the AMD version – DreamBook Power W27-0B, comes with AMD E-350 or C-50 dual-core processors and AMD Radeon HD 6250 or AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics.
Both machines have up to 8GB (1066/1333MHz) DDR3 memory, High Definition Audio, 9-in-1 Card Reader, HDMI, USB 2.0 and are loaded with Windows 7.
