Sony Vaio VGN-FZ31ER (PCG-3A6P) notebook part numbers.

Recently, we had a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ31ER notebook with a problematic onboard Nvidia GeForce 8400M GT graphics card. The machine was not switching on, so we had to open it and send the motherboard for reballing the video chip (or replacing it with a new one).

It eventually came out that the user broke and damaged one of the rear USB ports.

Sony Vaio VGN-FW41E notebook, which does not boot due to faulty keyboard – the video.
The user spilt a glass of wine on top of the keyboard and after disconnecting the battery he dried it with a hairdryer. The notebook appeared to be working.

Recently, we had a Sony Vaio VGN-FW41E (PCG-3H1M) notebook with an interesting problem. The user spilt a glass of wine on top of the keyboard and after disconnecting the battery he dried it with a hairdryer. Then the machine was brought to us for a check.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview gets a BSOD 0xc0000034 error message
Windows 8 gets the BSOD 0xc0000034 error message – and that’s how it looks.

It seems that also in Windows 8 we will have to deal with the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) 0xc0000034 error message (explained in details by Microsoft). Above is a screenshot of the generated error, followed by the Windows Recovery Environment troubleshooter with refresh/ reset options (below).
Lenovo ThinkPad T61 notebook fan error-Part 2
A Lenovo ThinkPad T61 notebook was brought at Laptoport, with a “fan error” problem.

When this Lenovo ThinkPad T61 notebook is switched on, it beeps two times, after displays a “fan error” (faulty fan), then beeps again and shuts down. We’ve already opened that notebook and cleaned its non-spinning fan, but that did not fix the error (photos of our first opening and clean-up are published in – Part 1). So, we’ve ordered a compatible replacement part (MCF-216PAM05, 42W2463, 42W2462/ MCF-217PAM05, 42W2461, 42W2460).
