Sony refreshed its VAIO line notebooks for Winter 2011.Sony VAIO division released various updated models for the approaching holiday season, available on the Sony Store site. 

This year, the VAIO S series made its debut by offering a new, alternative screen size, besides the 13.3-incher - the VAIO SA model. The S series features a 15.5-inch model, known as the VAIO SE model. The VAIO SE features are similar to its smaller sibling, with under 1-inch thin, flat design, AMD Radeon Hybrid Graphics (up to 1GB VRAM) and the optional sheet battery that can double its battery life. Prices of both, the 15.5-inch (SE) and 13.3-inch (SA) start at about $999 USD.

Ultrabooks with the new Intel’s Ivy Bridge processors will appear in the fist quarter of 2012, following the Sandy Bridge Core i7/ i5 CPUs, which will clear up the shelves, until then.

The Ultra light, thin and powerful Intel based models of the new Ultrabook market segment started to show from leading companies like Acer, Asus, Lenovo and Toshiba. The competition (AMD), will also offer some Ultrathins with great power efficiency and battery life, expected also in the beginning of next year.

Yesterday, LG announced its new 14-inch LG S430 and 15.6-inch LG S530 Aurora notebooks, known in South Korea as LG Xnote S430 and LG Xnote S530 (The machines are already available online – read after the break). 

The LG S430 and LG S530 have an attractive, brightly colored exterior design with a sleek, Crystalline Finish, while also delivering outstanding computing power. 

The Crystalline Finish (lid is covered by a special innovative coating NCVM (Non-Conductive Vapor Metallization) technology, produces a colorful metallic veneer.
