Asus makes available its 13.3-inch Zenbooks for Valentine’s Day in Thailand.

Asus is running a special promotion (between February 10th – and 26th, 2012) in Thailand, so as to celebrate the month of love. The company is offering its Zenbook UX31E ultrabook in Rose Gold (UX31E-RY024V), Hot Pink (UX31E-RY029V) and Silver (UX31E-RY009), equipped with second generation Intel Core i5-2557M (Sandy Bridge) low-power processor (17W TDP).
Lenovo announces a new color of its U300s Ultrabook for Japan
Today, Lenovo announced a new color of its U300s Ultrabook for the Japanese market.

The 13.3-inch (with HD display) IdeaPad U300s Ultrabook will be now available in Graphite Gray color in Japan. Till now, the company was offering only the Clementine Orange (108074J) model with i7-2677M processor, in the land of the rising sun.
The Graphite Gray IdeaPad U300s Ultrabook (108075J ) is powered by 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5-2467M dual-core CPU, 4GB of DDR3 1333MHz (PC3-8500) memory and a 128GB SATA SSD drive.
ASUS announces its Spring 2012 notebooks models for Japan
Yesterday, ASUS announced its Spring 2012 notebook models for the Japanese market.

The Asus ZENBOOK UX21E Rose Gold (UX21E-KXROSE) is powered by Intel Core i5-2467M processor, 4GB of memory and 128GB SSD. The 11.6-inch ultrabook is loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS. It weighs 1.1kg and offers up to five and a half hours of battery life. The Rose Gold Ultrabook comes with a price of ¥94,800 Yen ($1236 USD).
Leading companies will offer Thunderbolt ultrabooks in Q2-2012
Leading companies will be offering Thunderbolt interface in their ultrabook models in Q2, 2012.

The leading companies Acer, Asus and Lenovo will most likely use Thunderbolt connectivity in their upcoming Ultrabook models based on Intel’s Ivy Bridge platform, in the second quarter of this year.
Ivy Bridge is already set to support by default USB 3.0 technology, which will be implemented in mid to high-end notebook models in 2012, and will become a standard by 2013. While the Thunderbolt technology is only expected to be seen in high-end notebooks, due to its cost of more than $20 USD.
Acer will concentrate at the Ultrabook market segment this year
Acer is planning to concentrate at the Ultrabook market segment this year.

Acer is planning to launch its second-generation Ultrabook models in the second quarter of this year, and will escalate with more models in Q3, 2012. Acer is willing to reach with its Ultrabook category about 25% – 35% of its total notebook shipments for 2012.
AMD readying launch of its next-gen low-cost Ultrathin platform
AMD is readying the launch of its next-generation low-cost Ultrathin platform.

AMD is preparing the launch of its Trinity-based Ultrathin platform (which is alike Intel’s Ultrabook).
The Trinity-based Ultrathins are most likely to be launched in June, two months after Intel launches its next-generation 22nm Ivy Bridge platform. It is expected that the average price of Intel’s Ultrabooks will drop down to $799 – $999 USD, once devices with Ivy Bridge processors become available. Till that time AMD will be ready to launch its platform, and lower the overall costs for Trinity-based Ultrathin notebooks by 10% – 20 %, so as to attract leading companies like Hewlett-Packard (HP), Acer and Asus from placing orders.
