8+ Best Laptops for Bloggers & Blogging | Products Overview 2023
As most of you have been blogging since long before blogging existed and already know what to look for, for now, I’ll just summarize the specs you need to find the best laptop for blogging. and leave all the details at the end of this article.
1. MacBook Air
- Processor : 8th generation Core i5
- Graphics card : Intel UHD 617
- RAM : 8 GB of RAM
- Screen : 13.3-inch Retina display
- Storage : 128 to 256 GB SSD
- Operating system : MacOS
- Autonomy : 12 hours
- Weight : 1.2 kg
About :
For information: I’m not an Apple fan (well, not too much). In fact, I use a Windows 17 ″ laptop most of the time and an 11 ″ MacBook Air when I’m away from home. My MacBook Air 13 ″ is one continent away from where I live.
Long story short: the old MacBook Air and the new MacBook Air 13 ″ are both the best laptops for blogging or writing, hands down. It has just about everything we bloggers can ask for and more.
Most famous writers have actually touted the Air as the best writing device ever produced, so most bloggers if they can afford it, use it too. Just check out their laptops on YouTube.
Let’s see what makes it so awesome:
You will of course find all of the features listed above on most laptops, but what sets the Air apart from laptops designed for mere mortals is the storage device. Both the old and the new (and more expensive) MacBook Air have a hard drive that’s actually faster than the fastest SSD you can get from Windows machines: PCIe NVMe which is already x17 faster than most drives storage (and the one you probably have right now).
All MacBook Airs released for a year are equipped with an i5 processor at the core: the 5th, 6th and 7th generation processors have roughly the same performance. However, the new MacBook Air comes equipped with an 8th gen Core i5 processor and can actually be upgraded up to 16GB of RAM. That’s way too much for a blog and I recommend sticking to 8GB of RAM, but the extra power is always welcome!
All MacBook Airs pack enough punch for every aspect of blogging and insane multitasking you’ll give it to. Even the MacBook Air 11 ″ will do, but the screen size is way too small for long blogging sessions and can interfere with your eyesight.
An i5 core with 8 GB of RAM is the ideal combination for blogging: you can use Photoshop, do simple video editing (cuts/transitions) with Adobe Premiere, and manage long posts with tons of images without any lag. You can also easily open about fifty tabs with the Chrome browser, which eats up RAM.
While you can find the i5 core with 8GB at a very affordable price on some models of Windows, I bet you won’t find the Air’s SSD that kicks it up in 5 seconds.
This “Flash” SSD will also have a huge impact when reading/writing files or opening software.
- Neat design
- Exemplary finishes
- Well calibrated screen
- Good autonomy
- The Complete Apple Software Suite
- Poor performance
- Really bad for video games
- Noisy ventilation

- Battery life: up to 10.5 hours | Weight: 1.1 kg
About :
Blogging doesn't necessarily mean you have to take a big, bulky laptop with you wherever you go.
There are other options, like tablets and two-in-ones. We recommend that you get a two-in-one, however, as this will give you the portability of a tablet and the power of a laptop.
One of the best two-in-ones on the market that best illustrates this idea is the Microsoft Surface Pro 7. This powerful laptop is equipped with the latest 10th generation Intel Core i7 processor, and an Intel Iris Plus graphics card for basic and two-in-one video editing.
These characteristics are perfectly understandable for a laptop of this price range, but be aware that it is only a 12-inch laptop! This means that all of these powerful specifications are packed into a 12-inch laptop that weighs in at around 1.1kg. This is absolutely insane!
What's even crazier is that this 12-inch laptop has a 2736 x 1824 screen, which is way better than an FHD, and it's close to a 2.5K screen.
Finally, despite all these amazing features, the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 has a whopping 10.5 hours of battery life. All in all, this powerful two-in-one is, therefore, one of the best choices on the list, especially since it is powerful, has an amazing display, and has a long battery. lifespan and that it is very portable.

5. Lenovo IdeaPad 3

- Screen: 13.3 inch Full HD (1920 × 1080)

- Operating system: Windows 10
- Autonomy: 9.5 hours
- Weight: 1.25 kg
About :
Lenovo is one of the most famous brands when it comes to manufacturing durable laptops for business and gaming.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 is packed with a lot of useful features, which makes it ideal for blogging.
Let's talk about the processor first; the notebook is equipped with the 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor. It is marketed as a great processor for performing tasks like blogging, editing images in Photoshop, etc.
The laptop also has 8GB of DDR4 RAM, making it easier for you to multitask without worrying about lag issues. 6. HP Specter X360
- Processor : Intel Core 8th Gen i7-8565U (up to 4 GHz)
- Graphics Card : Whiskey Lake + Intel UHD Graphics 620
- RAM : 16 GB of RAM
- Display : 13.3 ″ FHD (1920 × 1080) IPS BrightView WLED multi-touch display
- Storage : 1TB SSD
- Operating system : Windows 10 Pro
- Autonomy : 16 hours
- Weight : 1.2 kg
About :
The HP Specter x360 is a direct competitor to the Microsoft Surface Pro 7. This two-in-one is quite powerful on its own with an 8th generation i7 processor, Intel UHD Graphics 620, and 16 GB of RAM.
These specs are amazing, but they fall short of Microsoft's Surface Pro 7. So why is the HP Specter x360 a competitor to the Surface Pro 7?
The answer is storage space, this detachable computer has an initial capacity of 1TB of SSD storage, which is almost 4 times the storage space of the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 which only has 256 GB of SSD.
But the crazy thing is that you can take this SSD even further. You can add 1TB of additional SSD storage to the HP Specter x360, giving you a total of 2TB of SSD to do whatever you want.
With such a large SSD space, you will be able to easily store large video files, video games, and programs.
Finally, although it doesn't have a resolution of 2.5K, the HP Specter x360 does have an astonishing FHD display resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. Considering that this is a 13-inch laptop, this is quite astonishing.
7. ASUS VivoBook S
- Processor : Intel Core i7-10510U
- Graphics card : NV MX 350 2G
- RAM: 8 GB RAM
- Screen: 14 inch Full HD (1920 × 1080)
- Storage: 512 GB SSD
- Operating system: Windows 10
- Autonomy: 10.5 hours
- Weight: 1.4 kg
About :
Instead of an Intel Core i5 processor, you will have an Intel Core i7-10510U processor and 16GB of RAM and these components are at the top of bloggers' list. On the other hand, the Asus Vivo Book has a hard drive with SSD capacity, a more important feature than the hard drive (HDD) which allows you to blog quickly as well as instantly open and run multiple programs.
Being 10th gen makes him more powerful, which is insane. And thanks to it, you'll be working comfortably with multiple navigation tabs while other programs are running without annoying lag.
Besides the screen, another remarkable feature is the lightness and finesse of its design, which does not exceed 14 inches (HDD) and 1.4 kg.
This laptop also has full connections including USB 3.2 Type-C (Gen1), USB 3.2 Type-A, USB 2.0, HDMI, and headphone / mic port.
8. Apple MacBook Pro 16

- RAM: 16 GB of RAM
- Screen: 16-inch Retina with True Tone display
- Storage: 1TB SSD | Operating system: Mac OS
- Autonomy: up to 11 hours
- Weight: 2 kg
About :
Compared to the Intel Core i7 processor, the Apple MacBook Pro 16 has an Intel Core i9 processor with 16 GB of RAM and the Turbo Boost pairing allows the laptop to run smoothly even when you are multitasking on various heavy programs. This is very useful for bloggers who are working on several documents at the same time.
You can do a lot of research online using multiple active tabs, watch videos on YouTube, and use Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator for editing photos and videos without any lag.
Thanks to its exceptional hardware, it operates effortlessly, unlike other laptops that freeze under heavy use. If your blogging activities are resource-intensive, this is one of the best laptops for bloggers and bloggers. You can also see Apple Macbook Air as a lighter option.
As standard for Macbooks, the Apple MacBook Pro 16 is equipped with a Retina display. As a blogger, we know that you spend most of your time staring at your laptop screen. This is why you need an option that is quite pleasing to the eye. Contrary to popular belief, reading on your computer for a long time does not make you feel exhausted.
On the contrary, the size and quality of the screen determine how long you can work on the laptop.
A Retina display works with an Intel UHD Graphics 630 card to give you a pleasant screen to use and enhance the viewing experience. This means that you can work on the laptop for long hours without eye strain.
Innovation is at the heart of Apple products, which has led them to find a great way to improve productivity by helping bloggers accomplish more in a short time.
The TouchBar offers word suggestions which is the most time-saving feature in finding blogging resources.
Most importantly, it will not only help you shorten the process but also improve the quality of your blogging.
Whenever you work, you can hold, touch, or drag items and it's all within your reach. When you type, it doesn't recognize your palms and distorts what you're working on.
How to Choose the Best Laptops for Bloggers & Blogging | Unrivaled Guide 2023
The goal of this section is to save you money by detailing what exactly you will be doing with your laptop and what specifications are required for it.
Software and activities
While this might seem trivial to longtime bloggers, I bet if you're just starting out you probably didn't know that you would end up doing some of the following:
- Some financial research (on the stock exchange maybe): Excel spreadsheets
- Taking and saving photos and editing photos: Photoshop + lots of storage.
- Watch multiple YouTube videos simultaneously: need RAM, maybe a big screen.
- All Microsoft Office products for editing, SEO data/email tracking, and more: mainly Excel & Outlook.
- Video editing: simple cuts / transitions / light effects, nothing heavy. Not necessarily an Adobe Premiere, even a Movie Maker can suffice.
So we have three types of bloggers:
- Regular Bloggers: Write home with some trips here and there.
- Travel Blogger: It's me. Mainly on the move, from conferences to conventions, etc. So the weight and the battery life are very important.
- Video Blogger: Someone who relies on Adobe Premiere. But these people usually hire video editors or limit themselves to simple cuts/edits/transitions and not heavy video editing. A mid-range laptop is therefore sufficient.
Blog regularly
It's just about browsing the web, posting, and watching Youtube. Of course, all of this can be done on any old, inexpensive laptop ...
But…
The problem starts when you start making huge posts (these are the ones that will give you more backlinks & shares because they are really useful).
These articles contain a lot of pictures, several links, and tables/charts to keep everything organized and easy to understand.
RAM
Chrome is very memory intensive, the worst of all web browsers. So you need at least 8 GB of RAM.
Forget those newcomers who say 4GB is enough for blogging. Today, Windows 10 takes up 2 GB, bloatware and other running applications can occupy 1 GB, which leaves 1 GB of free space.
Multitasking (web browsing + word editing + youtube)
Of course, this can be done with any old, inexpensive laptop with 4 GB of RAM. If you use a text editor like google docs or Microsoft Word, then you can count on 4 GB of RAM.
Just remember that as soon as you add Chrome + WordPress into the mix, you need at least 8GB of RAM.
Storage space
Solid storage drive
You should really try to break the bank and go for an SSD. You won't read big files / big software and you won't write big files either, but an SSD will steal your computer anyway:
- Starts up in seconds
- Search for a file instantly (even before you've finished typing its name or a word of its contents)
- Open your desktop, launch Chrome and any other app in the blink of an eye
You will be doing all of these things all the time, seconds will add to minutes and minutes to hours spent less on post content.
A few more advantages:
- Less risk of hard drive failure. Since there are no mechanical parts, you won't damage your storage drive as easily as with an old hard drive.
- Fewer heat problems: again, no moving parts, less energy spent, less chance of getting a nice tan on your laptop after a long haul.
Battery life
There is a good rule of thumb among laptops: the smaller the computer, the larger the battery.
This is because small-sized laptops typically have weaker processors and lower resolution screens, coupled with smaller screen sizes, which means fewer pixels, less power consumption for operations, and therefore more. battery life!
- Chromebooks: These are the longest batteries on the market, most of them have a lifespan of 11 hours.
- MacBooks: they are amazing. Despite their power, they have autonomy of around 10 hours. The old MacBook Air had about 13 hours of battery life.
- Lenovo: They put huge batteries in their ThinkPads or their Business models. They can last up to 10 hours.
The solution is to use my MacBook Air when I'm away from home and use my HP OMEN 15 for final touch-ups or any image/video editing I might have to do. I also use it to play games, run-heavy software that I need to learn to write my reviews.
Processor
Simple article creation does not require a powerful processor. If you have enough RAM and an SSD, you can use virtually any processor.
Yes, even if you plan to build your website from scratch. Web programming with HTML, PHP, MySQL, etc. does not require any particular processor.
Maximum is 7th or 8th Generation Intel Core i5 processor
Screen resolution
Bloggers tend to work in different lighting conditions since they are not tied to a specific location. Most often, you can work on your laptop for more than 5 hours in a single day.
This implies that a large screen resolution is essential for blogging outdoors and at night. In fact, the quality of the display will determine how long you can blog comfortably without getting tired.
Photo editing
I'm not going to lie, I needed to do some pretty heavy image editing with PhotoShop for my most popular items. Yes, I didn't want to pay someone because like most bloggers I was broke when I started and it's hard to describe exactly what you want to someone else the best person for. do the job you want is you!
Anyway, for the image, I was creating I needed tons of layers because I was a newbie passionate about photoshop and that's how I edited my images, a real mess of layers, but hey, it worked!
I also included a lot of logos / little GIFs all put together in one graphic, it was an infographic after all.
It was not really difficult, a few videos on Youtube and manipulation with PhotoShop will get you there.
If you are a photographer or someone who does regular photo editing for your work, I recommend the following guide: Which laptop for photo editing?
Video montage
Most bloggers just use the YouTube editor, some can use iMovie and Windows, the Movie maker.
If you rely on any of the above, you don't need any special hardware.
If you rely on simple jumps/transitions/effects with Adobe Premiere, you don't need any special hardware either. You just need to get the same specs for photo montage:
- Any latest generation processor
- 8 GB RAM
- SSD
Even if you are a vlogger using a green background to add cool effects, the same specifications apply.
However…
If you are going to become an avid Adobe Premiere user, i.e. if you rely on lots of time-lapse effects + high-resolution editing (with color grading + 3D effects) or edit/shoot videos in 4K resolution, read my article on the best laptops for video editing, you'll need a lot more power than the laptops shown here and portability will go away.
