How to connect your AirPods to your Windows 10 Laptop
AirPods are extremely well thought out for pairing with Apple products. And for the rest? True wireless headphones are still compatible with Windows 10, but the connection is not as easy and “magical” as it used to be. Follow the guide on How To Connect Airpods To Windows Laptop!
With its AirPods, Apple has revolutionized the market for Bluetooth headphones and propelled the category of true wireless. Designed to be part of the Apple ecosystem, they connect almost automatically to iPhones, iPads, and other Macs.
However, one can just as easily use AirPods with a Windows 10 PC. Apple has indeed planned a more classic connection system for all third-party devices. A system is similar to most lambda Bluetooth headphones and headsets.
How To Connect Your Airpods To Windows 10
To connect your AirPods to your PC, make sure your headphones are charged and in their box. On Windows, open Settings and the Devices menu .
On the Bluetooth and another device tab, click Add a Bluetooth device, and then click Bluetooth to start connecting your AirPods to your PC.
Now take the box of your AirPods, open it and press the small button on the back for a few seconds until the indicator light flashes white.
On Windows, your AirPods should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices to connect. Select them and click Connect.
And there you have it, your AirPods are added to your PC. A manipulation all in all similar to the connection with any other classic Bluetooth device since in the end, the AirPods remain Bluetooth headphones optimized for Apple.
They can therefore connect to any compatible device such as an Android smartphone or tablet!
Airpods In Windows 10, A Good Solution?
When not connected to an Apple device, the headphones lose some functions such as association with Siri or those related to different sensors. You keep the very “neutral” sound quality of AirPods, their comfort, and their ear-keeping in a compact size that is very easy to carry. AirPods Pro’s active noise reduction also works smoothly on Windows.
We don’t necessarily advise you to go for AirPods to use them only on your PC, but if you have an iPhone and you have to use them on Windows, this is obviously an interesting solution.

What to do if your AirPods won’t connect?
When you connect your AirPods to your PC, your audio output will automatically switch to your wireless headphones. However, if this does not happen and audio from your computer is still routed to its speakers, then follow the steps below:
- Right-click on the sound icon, in the toolbar at the bottom right of your screen, and click on Open sound settings.
- From the Sound settings menu, select the drop-down menu under Output, then your AirPods.
It still does not work? Try closing and reopening audio settings, then going through the previous steps again.
What to do if your AirPods disconnect?
Bluetooth connectivity is handy, but it’s not always perfect, which means your AirPods can go offline every now and then.
The quick way to sync your AirPods is to put them back in the case and close it for a few seconds. After which, when you take out your headphones, they should then reconnect to each other and to your PC.
Otherwise, do not hesitate to follow the steps previously explained again.
If despite everything, your AirPods keep disconnecting, then this could be due to the number of Bluetooth devices connected to your PC / Laptop. We recommend that you remove any unused Bluetooth device.
